ENVIRONMENTAL STATEMENT

I am very conscious of my responsibilities to operate in a way that minimises the impact of my activities on the environment and in particular on the climate emergency. So I am working towards making my art more environmentally sustainable, keeping in mind the approach of reduce, re-use and recycle.

Below are details of some of the measures I am taking.

  1. Packaging - Wherever possible, I re-use old packaging when posting my orders. Where this isn’t possible e.g. because I don’t have enough stock of pre-used materials or because of the needs of the order, I use new recycled packaging materials. I try to avoid using plastic except as waterproofing or buffer packaging, when I will re-use old plastic packaging.

  2. Greeting cards - nearly all of my greeting cards are made with recycled paper, recycled envelopes, and I post them without plastic envelopes. Cards sold in shops will initially be in compostable cellophanes. However, my aim is for 100% of my designs to be produced on recycled paper, without plastic packaging.

  3. Art materials - this the most challenging area to address. I am currently using remnants of print-making sessions for collage work, buying vegan products where possible, and trying out non-plastic based glues. Going forwards I am interested in exploring the use of eco papers. I am committed to continually reviewing practise, with the the three R’s in mind.
